The Young Heroes: 12 Kids and a Dog Recognized for Their Crime-Busting Deeds

How a Group of Kids Became Heroes by Guiding Police to Burglars During Their Big Adventure

Every child dreams of being a hero, but for one group of kids, that dream became a reality. Known as the “Tremendous Twelve,” this group of young adventurers gained widespread attention after they used quick thinking and creativity to help the police catch two burglars. Their story of bravery unfolded during an Easter outing that turned into a real-life adventure.

The children, ages six to twelve, were enjoying an Easter egg hunt in a field near Capel, Surrey, when they noticed something unusual happening. A police helicopter was circling above, and it didn’t take long for the kids to realize that the police were searching for someone. It was at that moment they spotted a man running along the edge of the field. The man appeared suspicious, as he was seen removing his sweater and wrapping it around his head, possibly to conceal his identity.

One of the kids, a nine-year-old girl, shared her account of the events, saying, “It was really loud, and we could see the word ‘police’ on the bottom of the helicopter. We tried to get their attention by shouting and pointing in the direction of the man, but the helicopter wasn’t turning toward him.”

Realizing that yelling wasn’t working, the kids decided to take a more creative approach. Two of them came up with the brilliant idea to form a human arrow on the ground, pointing directly toward the fleeing suspect. “One of my friends said, ‘Let’s get into an arrow,’ and we all laid down in the mud to form the shape,” the girl continued. Despite the cold and wet conditions, the kids remained determined to help the police catch the criminals.

With their arrow in place, it only took about a minute for the helicopter pilot to notice the kids’ clever formation. The police helicopter quickly adjusted its course and began to follow the path indicated by the human arrow, leading straight to the suspect.

The children couldn’t believe their plan had worked. Another child from the group shared their excitement, saying, “It was amazing! We just wanted to help, and we didn’t know if it would work, but it did. We’re so proud that we were able to help the police.”

In addition to their heroic actions, the kids had a loyal companion with them throughout the adventure—a small Yorkshire terrier named Molly. The dog, much like the faithful pets in famous adventure stories, stayed by their side as they played their role in the unfolding drama. Their tale of bravery and quick thinking reminded many of the classic characters in Enid Blyton’s stories, where children embark on daring adventures with their trusty pets by their side.

The story of the “Tremendous Twelve” quickly gained attention online, with many praising the children for their quick thinking and courage. While most kids their age were busy playing, these young heroes used teamwork and creativity to help solve a real crime.

Reflecting on the experience, one of the older children in the group said, “It’s something we’ll never forget. We were just out having fun, and then suddenly, we were part of something really important. It felt great to be able to help.”

Thanks to the children’s quick thinking and the ingenuity of forming a human arrow, the police were able to apprehend the burglars. Their story serves as a reminder that sometimes, even the youngest among us can play a vital role in making the world a safer place.
