Dog with malformed face dumped by family: Then angel arrives and makes everything right

Lucky didn’t have much to be happy about in life. Every family or owner he had ever been with ignored him, neglected him, and never showed him the love he truly deserved. From the very beginning, life wasn’t kind to him.

He was born in a puppy mill, a place where profit matters more than the wellbeing of animals. No one ever came along wanting to adopt him. In the end, he was given away for free—because of how he looked. Lucky was born with a facial deformity, and his appearance wasn’t like the other dogs. That was enough for people to pass him over time and time again.

Instead of finding a forever home, Lucky was passed from one person to another, like an unwanted object. He was rarely kept for long, and more often than not, he was handed off without anyone asking for anything in return. No one wanted to invest time or love into him. Over the years, he had many so-called “owners,” but not one of them provided the care or affection that he needed.

His most recent home was in Austin, Texas, with a family who didn’t treat him any better than the rest. They already had cats who didn’t like Lucky, so rather than working to make it work, they simply forced him to live outside all the time. Rain or shine, day or night, Lucky was tied to a tree in the backyard—alone.

There was no warm bed or nutritious food. He had no toys, no interaction, and certainly no love. The concept of being spoiled or even casually cared for was something completely out of reach. He was left to survive on his own in a space that was never meant to be a home.

When that family decided to move, they didn’t hesitate. They made a quick decision to get rid of Lucky. No emotional goodbye, no effort to find him a loving home. Just a call to a local dog shelter asking them to come get him.

Volunteers at the shelter jumped into action and started the process of finding a temporary foster home for Lucky. He stayed with the original family until they moved out—but not for any reasons of compassion. They simply didn’t want to be bothered.

Eventually, the shelter lined up a new foster home for Lucky, and things seemed like they might finally be turning around. But sadly, the foster family changed their minds. One look at Lucky’s face was enough for them to back out, and he was once again left without a home.

But then, a simple post on social media changed everything.

One of the volunteers took Lucky to be groomed and cleaned up. They posted a few pictures of him online, hoping someone might take interest. That post reached Jamie Hult, a woman with a big heart and experience in dog rescue. The moment she saw Lucky, she knew she wanted him.

She immediately messaged her friend in the rescue group and said, “I want that dog. I don’t want to foster him—I want to adopt him.” It was love at first sight.

When Jamie met Lucky, it was clear he wasn’t doing well. Years of neglect had taken a toll. He was severely malnourished, crawling with fleas, and full of worms. He hadn’t even been microchipped. His little body was covered in scars, and he was just skin and bones.

Despite all that, Jamie took him home. She didn’t care how hard it would be or how much it would cost. She was committed to giving Lucky the life he deserved.

Thanks to her dedication, Lucky finally found his forever home. With proper medical care and more love than he’d ever known, he made a full recovery. It took time—and a lot of money—but he bounced back beautifully.

Jamie shared that he was so close to dying, he had to spend a week in an oxygen tank. She ended up spending $8,000 just on testing and treatments, including an MRI, because his condition was so severe. But she never hesitated.

“I told my vet, ‘Don’t hold back. Do whatever you need to. I’ll pay for it.’ He made it through. He’s finally healthy.”

Today, Lucky is thriving. He’s full of energy, curiosity, and affection. But not everyone sees past his looks. Jamie admits she’s heard some mean-spirited comments from strangers about his face. Still, she doesn’t let it bother her. She decided to lean into it with humor.

“I started making him cute little ties to wear, just to help people see the fun in him, to maybe draw their attention to something other than his face,” she said. “And honestly, it kind of worked.”

Jamie even gave him a new name: Beaux Tox. She explained, “He kind of looks like he needs Botox—and that’s okay! Beauty comes in all shapes and forms. And between all the vet bills, I definitely can’t afford Botox myself!”

Now known as Beaux, he’s living the life of a happy, carefree pup. He’s especially gentle with other animals, helping Jamie raise foster kittens and even taking care of a younger sister dog. He gets along with everyone, whether it’s a cat, a baby skunk, or even a tarantula.

“He’s just fascinated by everything,” Jamie said. “Every little thing is exciting to him. He’s so full of love and joy.”

Beaux’s story is a reminder that love and kindness can heal even the deepest wounds. It’s also proof that we should never judge a dog—or anyone—by their appearance. Sometimes the most beautiful souls come in the most unexpected forms.

If this story touched your heart, share it with your friends and family. Let’s honor Beaux’s journey and the power of second chances.
